Two NAB branches in the Pilbara will change their opening times from next week, reducing their hours to just three a day.

NAB’s Karratha and Port Hedland branches will open from 9.30am- 12.30pm each day, with bankers available by phone and online chat outside these hours. The changes are part of a new model being rolled out, affecting 114 regional branches.

NAB’s Rachel Slade said the changes were a result of more customers banking online. “It is clear the face of banking is changing, especially in the way customers want to interact with us,” she said.

Nationals Pilbara candidate Scott Bourne called on NAB to reconsider, saying families and businesses would be hindered by the changes. “What is particularly disappointing is NAB didn’t consult with communities before making the decision to determine whether an appropriate service would remain, leaving customers in the dark or worried about how they can do their banking,” he said.
