Alicia PereraPilbara News

A strong showing of 57 players turned out for the monthly mug competition at Karratha Golf Club last Saturday.

Players faced fine but windy conditions on the greens for a stroke day, where there is a count for every hit.

The round’s overall winner was Steve Medling with a score of 32.

Cindy Newhouse came second on countback and was followed by Andy Clifton in third.

Vaughn Smith also had a good day, claiming best gross score with 34 points and collecting nearest the pin on the 11th.

Judy Hill won the ladies’ long drive on the 11th and Peter Newbold hit the longest men’s drive on the 12th. Longest putt on the 10th was by Justin Oui.

The stroke day also meant more categories to win, with the lucky recipients including Geoff Shoemark for best veteran and Cindy Newhouse for best lady.

Tim Nikkula took home the moose award, while Mike Williams was the proud winner of the wooden spoon NAGA award.
