Man in lucky escape after ute rollover
A man is counting his lucky stars after he managed to walk away without a scratch when rolling his utility vehicle in Tom Price.
The incident occurred about 10.30am last Monday on Paraburdoo-Tom Price Road when a tyre blew on the vehicle, causing it to roll twice.
The driver, aged in his 60s, was the single occupant and did not sustain any injuries from the crash.
Tom Price officer-in-charge Sergeant Nicole Mizen said the driver was lucky to have walked away without any life-threatening injuries.
“Very, very lucky he had his seatbelt on because the whole front of the cab was crushed,” she said.
There had been several crashes on Paraburdoo-Tom Price Road in recent months, however Paraburdoo police Senior Constable Barry Osbourne said in June the road was not dangerous.
“It’s not a particularly dangerous road and it’s no different than any other road — drivers just need to take more care,” he said. “It’s very important that drivers ... they need to be aware of circumstances that can inadvertently and suddenly pop up on the road, like animals.”
