Man charged over Wickham break-in, indecent assault
A 20-year-old man accused of committing a burglary and sexual assault in Wickham on Tuesday has faced court today.
West Pilbara Detectives and Roebourne police have charged a man from Baynton with sexual penetration without consent and aggravated burglary.
They allege at around 3:45am on Tuesday, the man broke into a house known to him in Wickham and sexually assaulted a woman asleep in the lounge room.
He allegedly ran away from the scene when disturbed.
The man appeared in Karratha Magistrate’s Court today where he applied for and was granted bail.
Magistrate Robert Young, appearing via video link from Perth, said he was prepared to grant bail on the grounds the alleged burglary had not been random, reducing the risk of similar re-offending.

The accused’s bail was subject to strict conditions, including staying away from the alleged victim and the towns of Roebourne and Wickham.
