Man charged over Karratha sexual assault
A Peg’s Creek man has been charged with robbery, assault occasioning bodily harm and sexual assault over several alleged incidents in Karratha earlier this week.
West Pilbara Detectives allege in the early hours of Wednesday, the 23-year-old man in company with another man struck a woman to the face at her home in Millars Well and sexually assaulted her after she had given them a lift from a petrol station.
The woman was treated for soft tissue injuries at Nickol Bay Hospital.
It followed another incident in which the same two men allegedly stole alcohol from a store in Nickol the previous night.
Caneen Leigh Munmurrie, 23, has been charged and remanded in custody for the incidents.
He appeared in the Karratha Magistrates Court today where he did not formally apply for bail and was not required to plead.
A second man is assisting police with their enquiries.
