Lotterywest grant helps charity group Reach Us

A Pilbara charity which provides care for cancer patients and their families has received an $85,000 boost from Lotterywest. Reach Us Pilbara Inc offers ancillary services for families dealing with cancer, including cleaning, counselling and travel compensation. The not-for-profit group was awarded $85,020 from Lotterywest to fund the appointment of a full-time support co-ordinator. Reach Us founder Stacey Hambley said a full-time co-ordinator would help the group expand its reach through the Pilbara. “One of the key things that we'll be doing with that role is undertaking a map and gap with other providers throughout the Pilbara, so that we can actually map out who provides what services,” she said. “That way when someone contacts us for support we can say we can provide you with this but there’s also all of these other services available to them.” The funds are the latest boost for the charity which moved into its new rooms at the Dampier Community Centre last month.
