The Kats continued their strong lead into the season, holding on to the top spot in Tuesday night’s clash with the Falcons.

The top two teams went head-to-head at the 8.15pm game, with the Kats posting a solid 12-point win over the Falcons, 44 to 32.

The ladder leaders started strong in the first quarter scoring 11 points, and left no mercy on the court by remaining in the lead for the entire game.

The Falcons struggled to get past the strong defence of the Kats, scoring only four goals in the first quarter.

However, their smooth tactics and quick ball skills from the centre third allowed them to close the gap, trailing only one point behind the Kats at half-time.

The top team managed to regain their composure thanks to starring performances from shooters Tyla Drew and Mia Graham, who quickly clipped the Falcons’ wings.

Coming out hard and fast in the third quarter, the Kats worked hard to maintain their lead by scoring the first two goals straight off the bat.

The Falcons had a strong centre with Natalie Cordon pushing hard the entire game, delivering the ball smoothly to their goal third.

Trailing only by four points into the final quarter, the Falcons left it all on the court.

But their efforts were no match against the Kats’ strong defence.

Their GD Kaitlyn Balfour covered every corner of the court, stretching herself to the max to make sure that ball didn’t slip through her defence line.

The Falcons worked tirelessly to close the gap but despite their quick centre start and relentless efforts, they were unable to beat the stronger ball skills and sharp-shooting of the opposition.

When the final whistle blew the Kate remained undefeated for the 2022 season.
