Bulgarra teacher Sarah Penn has been rewarded for her excellence over 14 years by winning the Teaching Excellent Award at the Western Australia Regional Achievement and Community Awards at the Hyatt Regency on Friday night.

Ms Penn works with children and adults, and is motivated to provide opportunities to improve life outcomes through education, particularly women and students from low socio-economic backgrounds.

“This is my passion,” she said.

“It is nice as a teacher to be acknowledged at any point for what we do.

“We have just driven two days from Karratha with three kids under five in the back... so I am extremely appreciative (to my husband).”
