The transition from primary to high school can often make students feel like a small fish in a big pond. To assist with this transition, Karratha Senior High School held a next step conference for all year six students to help with their mental health, build resilience, work ethic and navigating social media. Youth motivational speaker David Castelanelli said the day was about developing life skills. “My message is to be proactive, to take on new opportunities and to not be scared when they start year 7,” he said. KSHS deputy principal Ryan Ansell said it was important for students to set up a good foundation as they move into high school.
