A man has been arrested for allegedly attempting to murder someone with a meat cleaver at a property in Bulgarra yesterday.

Police will allege the 33-year-old from Bulgarra struck a 40-year-old man known to him with a meat cleaver, causing a deep arm laceration that went to the bone, after an argument at a Melak Street property about 5.40am.

The injury severed tendons, nerves and muscle in the victim’s arm and led to him losing movement in several fingers.

After escaping the property and seeking assistance, the victim was treated at Karratha Health Campus before being flown to Perth for surgery via the Royal Flying Doctor Service.

The alleged offender has been charged with attempting to unlawfully kill.

He is due to appear in Karratha Magistrate’s Court today, February 20.
