Karratha Kats extend winning streak, Sharks down Blazers in North Pilbara Football League women’s competition

The Karratha Kats thrashed Wickham Wolves in round 13 of the North Pilbara Football League Women’s season.

The reigning premiers Kats took on the Wolves on August 6 at Wickham Oval and extended their winning streak to 11 for the season.

The Karratha side kept the Wolves scoreless throughout the opening half while running out to a 43-point lead.

It was rinse, repeat in the second half, with Kats ripping apart the Wolves with a final score of 11.10 (76) to 0.0 (0).

Daneele Ryan booted three goals for the Kats and teammate Monique Camplin kicked two goals.

Meanwhile, Dampier Sharks took on the Hedland Blazers in a highly anticipated match, with the Sharks taking the lead early and never looking back leading 3.2 (20) to 1.1 (7).

It was all Sharks in the second half, booting 3.8 to control the game and secure the win, 6.10 (46) to 2.1 (13).

Karratha Kats remain on top of the ladder after 13 rounds with 44 points. Dampier’s victory moved the side into second on the ladder with 24 points, four points clear of Karratha Falcons.

Hedland Blazers remain in fourth on 16 points while Wickham Wolves sit last on 0 points.

The second last round of the season will start on August 12.
