Racers had a rare opportunity to fit the wet tyres on their karts for the first Karratha Kart Club meet of 2018.

About 30 competitors, including a team from Tom Price and several newcomers from Dampier, took to the track despite the wet and windy weather experienced in the lead-up to the event.

Aside from a light sprinkle, the rain stayed away for the night, though it did leave some puddles on the track for drivers to avoid.

There was some tight racing in each division, with the cadet 12 class proving especially close.

Tristan Grey, Donny Davis and Billy Duncombe each came away with wins in the three cadet 12 class runs.

Riley Grey, Max Duncombe and William Campell fought out several close races in the cadet 9 class.

Full results are on the Karting WA website.
