Karratha Falcons downed their rivals Karratha Kats by 29 runs in a low scoring contest at Bulgarra Oval last Tuesday. The round four clash of the West Pilbara Cricket Associations women’s 20-over contest took place on November 16, with Falcons winning the toss and electing to bat. Kats struck quickly dismissing Katelyn Arnold for a two-ball duck before Alexa Naprasnik set about steadying the innings. Wickets continued to fall regularly with batters struggling against the Kats bowling unit, eventually finishing the innings 8-92. Naprasnik was the top run scorer with 27 while Jodie Darvall starred with the ball taking three wickets. Defending a low score Falcons needed to be accurate with their bowling, and they were with Arnold and Lauren Fleury ripping through the batting line-up. Arnold snared three scalps while Fleury bagged two wickets to leave Kats bowled out for just 63 in the 15th over. Meanwhile the Pegs Creek Crabs remain undefeated after crushing Dampier Taverners by 75 runs. Crabs batted first against a firing Taverners bowling line-up with Jessica Creighton top scoring with 21 to finish 9-114. Kassie Patterson made 20 from 15 deliveries and Taverners’ Ash Knox grabbed three wickets. Crabs then tore through Taverners’ attack to skittle the chasing side for just 39 in the 15th over. Harmony Brown was the standout bowler for Pegs Creek with 3-4 from two overs.
