Meet the finalists for this year’s Karratha Business Excellence Awards, with some much-loved local teams up for the ultimate prize. The Karratha and Districts Chamber of Commerce and Industry announced the finalists for the prestigious awards across 11 categories, which will be presented on October 29. Three favourites are battling for the tourism award: Ngarluma Yindjibarndi Foundation Ltd — Cossack, Pilbara Dive and Tours, and Karratha Adventure Sports. Jonny’s Surf Shack, North West Brewery and Soak in Dampier are competing for the 2022 hospitality award. The people’s choice award will be awarded to Karratha Adventure Sport, Karratha Community House or Pilbara Community Services. Pilbara Dive Tours is up for a second award in the best home-based business category, competing against Karratha physiotherapy-based business Embodied Confidence. North West Brewery also has the chance to take home two awards, competing in the best business with 11 to 20 employees category against North West Recycling. The best Aboriginal business award will go to Brida, IMC PKKP JV, or PKKP Enterprises. Brida is also up for the best business award with 20 or more employees, competing against Lift Equipt and Red Rock Services. Angel Beeton, Issac O’Keefe and Tyler Smith are three hard-working locals up for the highly anticipated apprentice/trainee of the year, while Brett Johnston, James Corea and Jordan James are up for the coveted business man of the year award. The awards night will be held at the Red Earth Arts Precinct on October 29.
