The Karratha Country Club has clinched the prestigious title of regional golf facility of the year at the recent WA Golf Industry Awards, solidifying its status as the Pilbara’s premier golfing destination.

This recognition comes after a remarkable transformation journey, culminating in a $2.1 million refurbishment completed in 2022. The overhaul included greening of all 17 remaining greens, elevating the facility to a resort standard.

The project was part of a meticulous master plan adopted in 2014, which aimed at enhancing the course through a staged approach to design and construction.

The success of the refurbishment owes much to a collaborative effort between the Karratha Country Club and the City of Karratha, facilitated by a memorandum of understanding.

This partnership ensured shared responsibility for the upgrades, propelling the project forward.

Key enhancements include the addition of a new chipping green, revamped tee boxes with improved drainage, and comprehensive reticulation. Furthermore, the landscape has been enriched with the planting of 75 new trees, enhancing shade and aesthetics, while new distance markers enhance the playing experience.

Karratha mayor Daniel Scott expressed immense pride in the achievement, highlighting its significance for both the city and the region.

“The Karratha Golf Course, and Karratha Country Club, being recognised with the regional golf facility of the year shows how great the facility is,” Cr Scott said.“We have worked hard over the last 10 years to create a resort-standard golf course that is truly a stand-out in the Pilbara.“I would also like to thank the Karratha Country Club board and their members for the hard work they have and continue to put into the facility, this award is also a recognition of efforts.”
