Runners are making their final preparations ahead of the Karratha leg of theChevron City to Surf for Activ run this weekend.

The event has 12km and 4km running and walking categories, as well as a 4km wheelchair event.

The Korten family, of Onslow, will be one of several families travelling to Karratha for the event.

Tess Korten said the family of four often travelled around WA for events.

“We’ve competed in the Perth City to Surf on many occasions and this year we’re aiming to run for another finisher’s medal for our collection,” she said.

“The past few years, I have run the half marathon in Perth but this year I’ll be focusing my efforts on the 12km event in Karratha.

“Years ago, we pushed both kids in a double running pram — not an easy feat at an extra 50kg — so given this, I’m hopeful we’ll all make it to the finish-line celebration.”

Registrations close at 5pm this Saturday.
