The kids of Karratha went down to the woods and were in for a big surprise at the annual Teddy Bears Picnic on October 23.

The event has been running for many years and was taken over by Empowering People In Communities in 2017, and this year it was combined with the Early Years Expo for the first time.

More than 850 parents and kids enjoyed bouncy castles, face painting, craft stations and on-stage entertainment.

EPIC community programs co-ordinator Kath Armstrong said the event was a highlight every year.

“It’s a bit of fun for the kids, parents get a reprieve and it’s free for all to enjoy,” she said.

As part of the Early Years Expo, 27 stallholders, including the Smith Family, Karratha Gymnastics and St John Ambulance, showed what they had to offer.

“The stalls make families aware of what is available in town for their young ones,” Ms Armstrong said.
