It was a beautiful summer day to play golf on Saturday, and players enjoyed an interesting game sponsored by Karratha Country Club.

The par competition is all about pluses and minuses, but ending with 0 is also fine.

This round’s winner, with a score of +3, was Mark Payne.

He also won best gross score of the day on a countback, with a total of 37 strokes.

Wez Lynn (+2) finished in second place and Justin Oui (+1) came third on a countback.

Novelty winners included Payne (long putt on 15), Chris Stewart (men’s long drive on 12) and Lynda Giles (ladies’ long drive on 17).

Amish Dykes had a good run, scoring best second shot on 13 and best third shot on 14.

Nearest the pin winners were Dale Robson (on 11) and Stephen Giles (on 16).
