Greens candidate charged with graffiti

Alicia PereraPilbara News

Pilbara Greens candidate Brent McKenna has been charged with graffiting public property over party logos found spray-painted on City of Karratha pavements last month.

Spray-painted tags of the Greens logo appeared on footpaths outside Wickham Newsagency, Roebourne post office and Karratha City Shopping Centre on February 16 morning.

Roebourne police have been handling the investigation and last week charged Mr McKenna with three counts of damaging property by graffiti.

He is next due to appear in Karratha Magistrate’s Court on April 4.

Greens MLC for Mining and Pastoral Robin Chapple reiterated the Greens’ previous comments that the party did not condone the alleged actions of Mr McKenna and distanced themselves from them.

He said Mr McKenna will remain the Greens candidate for this Saturday’s election as the nomination date has closed.
