Golden Guitar winner Tom Curtain brings tour, mental health campaign to Exmouth

Multiple Golden Guitar winner Tom Curtain has kicked off his On the Road Again tour around regional WA in a bid to raise awareness for mental health. The six-month tour, which started on October 13 in Kununurra, will arrive in Exmouth on Wednesday before travelling south to Carnarvon, Denham, Northampton and Gnowangerup. Curtain, pictured, said the tour was about spreading the message of Dolly’s Dream, a charity established in memory of Dolly Everett who took her own life at the age of 14 after ongoing bullying. “Dolly’s Dream is a special organisation that raises awareness to a great number of kids but also their parents in relation to bullying and particularly online bullying in today’s society,” he said. “We are still getting a lot of really positive responses to the song Speak Up, which I wrote for Dolly... unfortunately, the messages resonate all too well with our communities out here.” Curtain said he wanted to create an evening for concertgoers to blow off some steam. “It’s also mainly trying to get everyone to come together and forget about life for a while,” he said. “Remote communities come out of the woodwork and they connect with people they haven’t seen for a while.” Curtain is joined with his Katherine Outback Experience as well as Chris Matthews and Kate Hindle.
