Gill claims victory in cup round seven

Round 7 of Karratha Golf Club’s Stableford summer cup on Saturday drew 55 golfers to the green for some friendly competition.

Vice-captains Steve Medling and Dot Abbott did an excellent job of organising the day.

By the day’s end, Brian Gill was announced the round’s winner with a final score of 23 points.

In second place on 22 points was June Worsley, while Carl Kleynhans came third on a countback, with 21 points. The best gross score went to Chris Stewart, who collected 35 points for the day.

Lorrie Bertrend took out the ladies’ long drive on the 2nd and Glen May was the winner of the men’s long drive on the 6th.

Meanwhile, Peter Newhouse had the best second shot on the 7th and Robert Hinchcliffe claimed best third shot on the 3rd.

Rick Cowan had two wins this round, achieving nearest the pin on the 5th and the longest putt on the 4th, while Alan Nolan was nearest the pin on the 8th. Junior golfers Kyan Medling, Rory Stewart and new player Bradley Beier also showed a lot of potential in their efforts this round.
