Beer and cider collided in Exmouth when Perth-based FUNK Cider took over the taps at Froth Craft Brewery for a night.

The Cider House stopped in at Bill’s Bar in Coral Bay before they headed to Exmouth and placed four of their delicious ciders on Froth’s taps on Saturday, May 11.

The two businesses already had a longstanding relationship as Froth has been stocking FUNK’s ciders since they opened.

Froth director Pete Firth said the idea of a tap takeover was born over drinks at the Margaret River Gourmet Escape and a couple of beer festivals they both attended late last year and early this year.

“FUNK wanted to expand their product range and their brand up here in the North West,” he said.

“Plus tap takeovers work well for venues, like ours, that want to provide a themed night for drinks that wouldn’t usually be able to have on tap.”

A new brew was also created from the takeover, with Froth and FUNK collaborating to create a new beer they’re calling the “Trop Bomb” French Funkhouse Saison.

FUNK brand ambassador Douglas Clare said the brew was about three weeks away from being ready and would be full of flavour.

“We squeeze a lot of fruit so we brought in passionfruit, pineapple and mango and Froth brought the beer-making expertise,” he said

The two businesses have plans to host a dual stall at Fremantle BeerFest in November and will do another collaborative brew when Froth is next in Perth.
