Patriotic Karratha residents are set to don their best green and gold kit and fly the flag this Australia Day as a stellar line-up of fun and family events has been announced for the Pilbara town.

This year’s events will be headlined by the City of Karratha’s annual awards ceremony that recognises the dedication and services of the region’s excellent citizens. New Australians will also be welcomed at a citizenship ceremony at the Karratha Leisureplex.

A community sundowner event will then be held at the newly redeveloped Hampton Oval in Dampier in the evening.

Karratha Mayor Peter Long said Australia Day was a time to celebrate the rich and diverse land we live in.
