Fountain guides the Krakens to win over the Pirates in Karratha Water Polo Association

A six-point haul from the Krakens’ Simone Fountain powered her side to a victory over the Pirates at the Karratha Leisureplex on February 24. Only one point separated the two sides at half time, with the Krakens’ leading 4-3. A decisive second half from Fountain proved the difference between the teams with the Krakens taking the win 8-6. The Pirates second game of the round saw them narrowly go down to the Barracudas 6-5. Caitlin Reed scored three goals for the Cuda’s while Anouska Angrove bagged two goals for the Pirates. In the men’s A Grade the Barracudas took on the Krakens in a high-scoring game. Five goal hauls from Byron Newbold and Daniel Whitehead led the Krakens to a dominant 15-8 victory. Meanwhile the Pirates downed the Sharks 10-6 with Justin Angrove scoring four goals for the winning side. In the men’s B Grade the Trouts defeated the Wahoos 8-6. Riley Adams and Justin Rees scored three goals each for the winning side while Josh Desouza bagged two goals for the Wahoos.
