Flames Division 1 Black have kept their hold on the top spot of the ladder after a nine-point win against Northern Spirit Suns on Thursday night. The partnership between Maeva Walker and Danford Parata put Flames in control of the game early on, leading 11-2 in the first quarter. Flames grew their lead to 15 as Suns failed to muster up much in the second quarter, with Mark Alfred and Brody Van Niewburg contributing the only two points in the quarter. Suns rallied in the third and fourth term as the collective 14 points from Van Niewburg and Adam Pau narrowed Flames’ lead. Despite the good second-half fight from the Suns, Flames took the win, 30-21. In the night’s other game, Mayuga Majik annihilated bottom-placed Pardoo Katz, 20-0. Friday night’s games saw Flames Division 1 Grey narrowly defeat Northern Spirit Warriors by one point, 28-27, keeping them second on the ladder while fifth-placed Coral Trouts crushed Bandits, 46-30. In the women’s division one games, Flames Division 1 Black have extended their lead on top of the table after beating bottom-placed Cyclones Development, 28-26. Trouts Blue remain second-placed after winning their game against Northern Spririt Lynx, 43-15.
