Flames Div 1 Black demolished Trouts by 23 points in round 16 of the Karratha Basketball Association season to remain third on the ladder. Flames took control in the first half at the Karratha Leisureplex on February 17, scoring at will as they ran out to a 21-6 lead at half time. A further 14 points in the second half sealed the game with Flames beating Trouts 35-12. Maeva Walker was the standout player with 13 points for Flames, while teammate Ky Hayes had 12 points. The top scorer for Trouts was Ashley Benjamin with six. In the other division one games, ladder leaders Flames Div 1 Grey took down Coral Trouts 34-24 and Northern Spirit Warriors defeated Pardoo Katz 51-38 in a high scoring game. The final game of the round saw Mayuga Majik obliterate Bandits by 36 points, running away with the victory 62-26. Meanwhile, in the women’s competition, Flames Div 1 Black proved too strong for Trouts White, taking a 20 point victory. Flames seized control early and never looked back, defeating Trouts White 38-18. Flames’ Sarah Ugle scored 11 points and had support from her teammates Amy Poad and Lyal Otto who scored eight and seven points respectively. The final game of the round saw Northern Spirit Lynx defeat Cyclone Development 41-25.
