The State Government has released the final lots of land for the Baynton West estate.

The estate, which is 6.2km from the Karratha town centre, will hold more than 1100 homes and feature parks, recreational facilities and a primary school.

Lands Minister John Carey announced on August 23 the release of the final 10 large home sites at the estate, ranging from 705sqm to 955sqm.

Mr Carey also announced expressions of interest would be sought from developers for two commercial sites at the emerging mixed-use Tanbrey neighbourhood centre.

The 4000sqm Lot 102 and 3112sqm Lot 108 are zoned for a town centre.

It is 4km from the Karratha city centre and is intended to provide new retail and residential opportunities.

Two lots in the Tambrey neighbourhood centre were sold by a request for proposal process in 2021 to buyers in the health and childcare industries.

Mr Carey said the release of the blocks and development of the centre would enable the Karratha community to continue to grow and thrive.

He said the Government was looking at a range of options to make land available to support the growing demand for housing and residential lands across the State.

“With this latest release of residential and commercial development land, we’re opening up a range of opportunities that will continue to support that growth,” he said.

Pilbara MLA Kevin Michel said the commercial land release would attract new businesses to Karratha, diversifying its economy and creating local jobs.
