The Fabulous Four Karratha golfers, all winners of major Pilbara districts events over the past year, joined Scroungers players for nine holes on Sunday, October 21.

Nathan Woods, Vaughan Smith, Chris “Chef” Stewart and 14-year-old Bradley Beier treated the growing crowd of onlookers to long drives and impeccably executed approach shots as they came down the last two holes.

Organiser and pro golfer Darren Beier presented awards to each of these outstanding players.

The 2018 Order of Merit was awarded to joint winners Stewart and Woods.

The Men’s Pilbara Open 2017 award went to Smith, and the Men’s Pilbara Open 2018 award to Woods.

But in the biggest surprise of the day, star junior Bradley Beier was showered with donations from sponsors to help advance his budding golf career.

NW Machinery donated three return airfares to Perth, Air Dynamics’ Michael Giles gave him $2000, and Golf Box Osborne Park provided a contract to sponsor him with all his golfing equipment needs for 2019.

Tyson Bertrend, another top Karratha golfer, had a clean sweep for the day, winning best gross with 31 points and the Scroungers competition with a score of 25 Stableford points. Runner-up was Michael “Chopper” Giles.
