Beer aficionados across the State are being urged to ferment their brewing ideas and hop in to a home brewing competition at one of Exmouth’s breweries.

Froth Craft is hosting a home brew competition in May, with the winner receiving the chance to have their creation brewed on a commercial scale at the brewery.

Head brewer Tyler Little said the competition was a chance for home brewers to fire up the kettle and mash up a great sip.

“One thing with beer and brewing is you can always learn from everyone else; that is the cool thing about the craft beer scene,” he said.

“There are some exceptional brewers out there, so to give them the ability to go into a commercial brewery is pretty cool.

“Just because I brew commercially doesn’t mean someone home brewing for 20 years can’t teach me new things either.”

The competition will have four categories — light-tasting beers, such as lagers, malty beers, hoppy varieties and specialty brews.

The overall winner from these four categories will be picked up by the brewery.

“Locally we have seven or eight brewers, and a couple from Perth and the Pilbara have already entered too, which I never thought we would get,” Mr Little said.

“We just wanted to give back to local and regional home brewers.”

Entries to the competition are due by April 31 and can be submitted in bottles, kegs or any other way beer can be stored.

Froth has also recently sent beers down to Coral Bay, marking the brewery’s first foray outside Exmouth.
