Karratha State Emergency Service now has more teeth at its disposal, courtesy of a chainsaw donation from one of its members.

Vicki Connolly bought a ticket at the Karratha City Shopping Centre’s McHappy Day fundraiser while manning the SES cyclone preparation stand alongside the fundraiser.

Ms Connolly won the Stihl chainsaw, donated by Home Hardware, and did not give a second thought as to where it would be put to best use.

SES local manager Trevor Patton said the unit was thankful for Ms Connolly’s selflessness.

“With cyclone season upon us the chainsaw will be an important piece of equipment for our unit,” he said.

Home Hardware manager Mick McAllen said he was pleased to see the prize go to a worthy cause.
