Dampier stun Falcons, Blazers down Wickham in round 14 of the North Pilbara Football League Women’s comp

Dampier Sharks outclassed Karratha Falcons in round 14 of the North Pilbara Football League women’s competition at Bulgarra Oval on August 12.

The round 14 clash was evenly poised at quarter-time with Dampier taking a two-point lead as both sides battled for momentum in the opening term.

Sharks were able to build momentum in the second quarter on the back of kicking 2.2 while Falcons managed just one goal.

It was all Sharks in the second half with the visiting side dominating the third term with three goals while keeping Falcons goalless.

Another strong fourth quarter steered Dampier to the easy victory 6.7 (43) to 1.2 (8).

Tiahnee Pasche booted three goals for the Sharks and was supported by Erin Ronan (two goals) and Tanya Adams (one goal). Jessica Newman kicked Karratha Falcons’ only goal.

Meanwhile, a five-goal haul from Heidi Thompson guided Hedland Blazers to a dominate win over Wickham Wolves at Colin Matheson Oval.

An accurate Blazers booted four goals in the opening term while keeping Wolves scoreless to take control of the game and never looked back, running out to a 43-point lead at the main break.

A close third quarter saw Wickham halt the Blazers’ momentum, but it proved too little to late with the home side cruising to victory 10.2 (62) to 3.1 (19).

Thompson was the top goalkicker for Blazers with her five-goal bag. Teammates Jasinta Willcocks and Natalie Whiteside kicked three goals and two goals, respectively.

Veronica Alsaker, Aaliyah Djiagween and Shermiah Woodley all kicked one goal each for Wickham.
