Three goals from Guy Langdon and Jonty Gray powered the Dampier Sharks to their 10th straight victory this North Pilbara Football League season. The Sharks travelled to Wickham to take on the Wolves on Saturday and asserted their dominance early in the first term, booting seven goals to the Wolves’ three to hold a dominant lead at the first break. A further three goals in the second term extended the visitors’ lead to 39 points but it could have been more at half-time if the Sharks had been more accurate in front of goal, kicking five behinds for the term. It was a scrappy and hard-fought third quarter between the two sides with neither team able to score freely. The Wolves attempted a comeback in the third quarter but wasted opportunities, kicking 1.4 to the Sharks 1.1. The final quarter saw the Wolves continue to try and fight their way back into the contest but it proved too little, too late, with the Sharks running away with a 31-point victory. The final score saw Dampier Sharks 13.9 (87) defeat Wickham Wolves 8.8 (56). The victory extended the Sharks’ undefeated run to 10 wins on the trot, with the side now sitting 16 points clear of second placed Karratha Kats. In reserves action, the Dampier Sharks decimated the Wolves by 107 points. The Sharks controlled the game from bounce-down, winning 17.12 (114) to 1.1 (7).
