Councillor Pablo Miller Steps Down After Seven Years of Service on Karratha Council

Councillor Pablo Miller has tendered his resignation from the City of Karratha Council, marking the end of a seven-year tenure dedicated to community service. First elected in 2017, Mr Miller has been a stalwart presence at council meetings, missing only one session throughout his term His contributions were not limited to mere attendance; he played a crucial role in establishing the Youth Advisory Group, aimed at empowering local youth and enhancing their involvement in civic affairs. Earlier this year, Mr Miller resigned from his position at Triple M, a move that allowed him to participate in council meetings remotely while he travelled to the East Coast to visit family, with the Mayor’s endorsement. According to Virginia Miltrup, CEO of the City of Karratha, Mr Miller officially resigned from his councillor position effective July 5. Despite being away, he remained engaged by attending meetings remotely and had plans to attend the upcoming August session in person. “While he remains a resident and complies with all requirements under the Local Government Act, Cr Miller has informed both myself and Mayor Daniel Scott of his decision to step down from the council,” Ms. Miltrup said. Mayor Scott expressed his gratitude for Mr Miller’s unwavering commitment during his tenure, highlighting his significant contributions to the city’s progress and the welfare of its residents. “We’ve achieved remarkable milestones under Pablo’s leadership,” Mayor Scott said. “His dedication and hard work have left a positive impact on our community, and it has been a privilege to work alongside him.” The City of Karratha will address the vacancy left by Mr Miller’s resignation with a report scheduled for presentation at the July council meeting, where discussions on calling a by-election will take place.
