West Pilbara Detectives are calling for public assistance as they investigate a blaze that gutted a Karratha unit earlier this month.

Police are investigating the circumstances of a unit fire in Goodwyn Close, Millars Well that started about 7.50pm on Friday, May 4.

The fire caused extensive damage to the unit while a neighbouring unit received significant smoke damage, requiring both to be demolished.

Detectives would like to speak to a woman who was seen leaving a unit shortly before the fire because she may be able to assist with inquiries.

She is described as being fair skinned, short and of a solid build and with shoulder-length blonde hair.

Police are asking anyone who was in area around the time of the fire and saw any suspicious activities, or has dash cam footage of the area, to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or make a report online at crimestopperswa.com.au.
