The City of Karratha has started preparing for cyclone season with street pruning and annual yard clean-up collections taking place.

Works will include a verge collection service for yard clutter and clearing dead wood and branches that could pose a risk in extreme weather conditions.

Verge collections will be on October 9 for Dampier, Karratha Airport, Bulgarra and the city centre; October 16 for Millars Well and Pegs Creek; October 23 for Baynton and Nickol; and October 30 for Roebourne, Wickham, Point Samson and Cheeditha.

City of Karratha Mayor Peter Long said he encouraged all residents to have household emergency kits and use the verge collection service.
