Circa Cairns comes to Wickham Basketball Courts with performance of The Dry

Wickham is set to experience a slice of Far North Queensland dry season through First Nations-led circus ensemble Circa Cairns. The Dry is coming to Wickham Basketball Courts on Friday, September 20 before the the eight-person crew heads to Karratha for The Wet on Saturday, September 21. The free performance blends elite skill, cultural knowledge and inspiration from the sun-soaked landscape. City of Karratha mayor Daniel Scott said he was proud to bring this accompaniment work to the Wickham community. “Council is committed to growing the arts in our region and that includes bringing first class shows to all the towns in our region,” he said. “This performance blends elite skill with cultural knowledge while the Circa Cairns ensemble draw upon elements of the dry season to breathe life back to into circus. “I encourage our Wickham and other eastern corridor community members to come out in force for this unmissable event.” The Dry was imagined, created and performed on the country of the Gimuy Walubara Yidinji.
