Christmas on the Green kicks off festive season in Karratha

The enchanting spirit of Christmas has officially descended upon Karratha, as the community gathered at the Red Earth Arts Precinct on December 1 for the much-anticipated Christmas on the Green event. Hosted at 5pm, the celebration marked the start of the festive season with a plethora of delightful activities and joyful moments. Families and friends immersed themselves in the holiday spirit as the event unfolded, featuring a festive playground of arts and crafts, lively games, roving elves, face painting, and the KDCCI Christmas Markets in the Foyer. The atmosphere was brimming with laughter and joy, setting the perfect tone for the holiday season. The highlight of the evening came when Santa made a grand entrance, gracing the occasion to illuminate the Sharpe Ave Light Walk at 7.30pm. The crowd then joined Santa on a heartwarming walk to The Quarter, where the night’s final hour unfolded in a magical display of lights and festive cheer. The event serves as the start of Karratha’s festive season, with the Sharpe Avenue Christmas lights illuminating the street every night from 7pm to 10pm until Christmas Day. Mayor Daniel Scott expressed his delight at the success of Christmas on the Green and urged locals to continue embracing the festive merriment. “Christmas is a chance for our community to come together and celebrate, so take the opportunity to participate in our action-packed calendar,” he said.
