BOM on North West cyclone watch
The Pilbara could finally see some rain this wet season as there is currently a small risk that a tropical cyclone could move over the west Pilbara coast late in the weekend.
The Bureau of Meteorology is monitoring a tropical low which has developed north of the Kimberley and is at significant risk of becoming a tropical cyclone later in the week, most likely from late Thursday.
A coastal crossing for the Kimberley is highly unlikely with the system more likely to remain further offshore and move west-southwest, roughly parallel to the coast.
Significantly increased swell and increased rainfall for the Pilbara coast would still be likely in this scenario.
