Black Swan State Theatre Company brought its heartwarming comedy Every Brilliant Thing to Karratha on August 6 and 7 as part their Australia-wide tour. Described as “one of the funniest plays you’ll ever see about depression”, the production directed by Adam Mitchell aimed to kick-start a conversation about mental health in a “lighthearted” way. Performed in-the-round, actor Luke Hewitt said it was a celebration of a life, with all of its ups and downs. “We do touch on some heavy themes throughout the show but I think overall, it’s a positive experience for the audience,” he said. Director Adam Mitchell said they were lucky to still put on live performances in WA, unlike the theatres interstate which are closed or playing at a low capacity due to COVID-19.
