The best businesses in Onslow have received due recognition at the town’s annual Business Excellence Awards.

The annual Onslow Chamber of Commerce and Industry awards night, held last week, drew more than 80 people to see the best local companies and organisations in town acknowledged across 10 categories.

Commercial cleaning company Keep It Kleen was named the best overall business, as well as best micro-business, on the night.

In the best business by employee numbers categories, KHB Mobile Mechanical won best business of five-to-10 staff while NTC Contracting collected the best business with 20 or more employees award.

Brijarcass Security was a double winner on the night, taking home awards for best business (11-20 employees) and best Aboriginal business.

V Swans was awarded best community organisation and the Mackerel Islands won the best tourism and hospitality gong.

The coveted best employee of the year prize went to Dread’s Sean Sadler. Meanwhile, Globehill KBSS JV took home the people’s choice award after winning the most votes in an online poll, which had more than 400 registrations.

OCCI chief executive Chantelle King said this year’s awards had been the most popular yet.

“(The awards) received a significant increase in submissions this year, which is exceptional for such a small community,” she said.

“We have also received submissions for each of the 10 categories, which really demonstrates how diverse and strong the Onslow business landscape is.”
