Tropical cyclone Riley teased the 72 players who embarked on a fun day of Australia Day golf.

The popular Ambrose format allowed all standards of golfers to mix and play together with equal enjoyment.

The style promotes teamwork as one score is recorded per hole and generally minimises the amount of time looking for lost balls.

This round’s winner, with a score of 28.75, was Patrizia Hinchcliffe, John Magerl, Lisa Andersen and Chelsea Broun.

Fiona Kinsman, Rick Cowan, Supatta Shaw and Aaron Durkin finished in second place with 29.5, and Steve Medling, Kathie Couzens, Ben Tawhiti and Chef Stewart came third on a countback.

Novelty winners included Shaw (long drive on 17), Team Truckie (long drive on 15) and Martin Smith (best second shot on 18).

Tyson Bertrend had a good run, scoring nearest the pin on 11 and best third short on 14.

Lorrie Bertrend was named the winner of best-dressed lady and Warren Dunsby claimed best-dressed man.

Dave Turner, Kim May, John Rossi and David Prestige won best dressed team.
