Live music, fireworks, hands-on activities and family fun will take centre stage in Karratha on Saturday 27 June 2026, as the WA Day Festival lands at Bulgarra Oval for one of the Pilbara’s biggest community events.

Taking place from 3pm, the free Karratha WA Day Festival will bring together acclaimed Western Australian performers, interactive family entertainment, food experiences and a spectacular fireworks finale, creating an afternoon and evening designed to celebrate everything that makes WA unique.

Leading the entertainment lineup is celebrated WA singer-songwriter Abbe May, who will bring her acclaimed live show to the Pilbara. Known for her distinctive fusion of soul, blues, indie rock and electronica, May has become one of Western Australia’s most respected musical exports and is expected to draw crowds from across the region.

Joining her on stage will be local favourite DJ Macca, whose energetic performances and growing profile have seen him perform at major events throughout the state.

Celebrate WA Chairman Scott Jones said the festival was designed to create a welcoming event that reflected the spirit of the region and the people who call it home.

“WA Day is about celebrating the people, stories and communities that make Western Australia such a special place to call home, and Karratha’s festival captures that spirit perfectly,” Mr Jones said.

“We’re excited to bring together live music, interactive family activities, cultural experiences and entertainment in one free event that reflects the energy and diversity of the Pilbara community.”

Beyond the live performances, families can enjoy a packed schedule of activities and attractions spread across the festival grounds.

A major drawcard will be Scitech’s immersive STEM zone, where children and adults alike can get hands-on with science and technology through a range of engaging experiences. Visitors can test their skills through earthquake engineering challenges, explore thermal imaging technology, investigate animals up close and take part in logic-based building games designed to encourage creativity, curiosity and problem-solving.

Festival favourite Fliptease will also return with a range of circus workshops and roaming entertainment. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn juggling, hula hooping, spinning plates and other circus skills while professional performers bring colour and energy to the festival throughout the afternoon.

The free entertainment will continue with illuminated stilt walkers, glowing performers and a silent disco.

“With headline performances from incredible WA artists like Abbe May, alongside local talent and hands-on activities for families, there’s something for everyone to enjoy throughout the afternoon and evening,” Mr Jones said.

Younger visitors will also be kept busy with a variety of free amusement rides, including bouncy castles and ride-on trains, helping ensure the event remains accessible and affordable for families.

Food lovers won’t miss out either, with more than a dozen local food vendors and food trucks set to serve a diverse selection of cuisines and flavours throughout the event. The food offering is expected to further showcase the community spirit of the festival, bringing together local businesses and residents in a relaxed outdoor setting.

As the evening draws to a close, all eyes will turn skyward for a large-scale fireworks display over Bulgarra Oval.

The Karratha WA Day Festival forms part of a broader series of WA Day celebrations taking place across the state, recognising the people, cultures, achievements and communities that continue to shape Western Australia.

Entry is free, with the event proudly presented by regional presenting partners Rio Tinto and Woodside Energy, with support from the State Government and Lotterywest.
