$2m boost to get green hydrogen flowing

A project that would see the Pilbara become a green hydrogen powerhouse has been given a boost after receiving $2 million from the State Government.

The YURI Green Ammonia Project, at the Yara Pilbara site, will use solar energy to produce renewable hydrogen and green ammonia.

The funding from the renewable hydrogen fund will see Yara and its partner Engie install a 10-megawatt solar farm at the Burrup site. The project plans to increase its capacity to 500mw.

The hub could inject hydrogen into natural gas pipelines and export liquefied gas to Asian markets.
