A Perth FIFO worker is asking for the public's help to find his missing pet snake.

Atwell resident Jason said he realised his python Bonnie had slithered away about a week ago.

“I went to feed my snakes Bonnie and Clyde and noticed Bonnie was missing,” he told 6PR.

Jason posted about his missing pet on social media and had no leads until another Atwell resident spotted a large snake in his backyard on Thursday.

“Dogs went crazy so locked them in. Closed every door and window and called the snake catcher ,” the surprised resident wrote on Facebook.

The snake catcher was unable to find the fugitive reptile, which is believed to be hiding in the roof.

Jason said he went to house to lay a snake trap baited with a fresh rat and will return this morning to see if it had tempted Bonnie out of the roof.

“I’ve been keeping snakes for about six years, “ he told 6PR.

“You don’t have to walk them and they are easy to feed when I am away.”
