A major emergency unfolded in Perth’s east on Wednesday morning after a car rolled over, causing disruptions to traffic.

A man in his 60s was injured in the crash, with emergency crews including police and St John Ambulance responding to the incident on Tonkin Highway about 5.30am.

Three ambulance crews arrived at 5.38am and rushed the man to Royal Perth Hospital under lights and sirens. The man sadly died.

Motorists were urged to avoid the area throughout the morning, and the southbound exit to Horrie Miler Drive at Perth Airport is closed.

Main Roads WA confirmed the closure had been cleared shortly before 9.30am.

Traffic has since begun flowing along the busy highway.
