Nominations open for 2024 Hedland Sports Awards

Shining a light on local sporting legends, nominations for the 2024 Hedland Sports Awards are now open. The awards celebrate incredible local talent, drive and dedication of sporting individuals and teams across Hedland. The categories up for grabs include sportswoman of the year, sportsman of the year, junior sportswoman of the year, junior sportsman of the year, official/umpire of the year, coach of the year, volunteer of the year, service to sport award and sporting group of the year. In addition to being rewarded for their achievements and contributions to the sports community, winners will also receive cash prizes, thanks to the generous sponsors. There is a $1000 cash prize for individual winners and a $2000 cash prize for sporting group of the year. Sporting groups and individuals are invited to attend and show their support for other sporting stars in the community. “Sport is the backbone of Hedland’s inclusive and vibrant community,” Town of Port Hedland mayor Peter Carter said. “These awards not only celebrate our sporting successes but also highlight the importance of promoting positive health, wellbeing and social connections.” The awards will be held on November 8.
