Mining giant BHP will make seats on their charter flights between Perth and Port Hedland available to the general public on a trial basis over the next six months at a set price of $349 each way, from Monday.

BHP’s general manager of non process infrastructure Cristian Magri said that following the easing of physical distancing requirements on flights, BHP would offer up to 50 seats a week each way between Perth and Port Hedland.

“With intrastate borders now lifted in WA many people are looking to start travelling around the state again to reunite with family and friends,” Mr Magri said.

“We are pleased we can offer these dedicated community seats at a set cost to help make this possible and support our communities reconnecting again.”

Mr Magri said passengers would need to follow BHP’s COVID screening procedures prior to boarding and masks would be required on flights.
