Finals all but locked in for Rams
Northampton remain the only Batavia Bowling League women’s squad to have retained a top-four position all season, and with three rounds remaining it seems likely finals pennants await the Rams.
Wonthella Maroon posted the last round’s biggest result, with a dominant 4/1 (53/35) result over a highly credentialed Denison side to leave the Seagulls in third.
Margaret Kupsch, Paula Cripps, Val Exten and Sandra Brown were the stand-outs, winning 34/17 against the quality of Marie Eaton, Lorraine Crowden, Sandi Crabb and Lisa Downing, with Julie Sims, Dorothy Stokes, Marlene Chaushs and Alisa Criddle icing the result with a single-shot 19/18 result over Pat Belcher, Lorraine Cliff, Cheryl Snell and Gloria Nelson.
A loss by Geraldton Gold left them with seemingly all to do, sending them to the bottom of the ladder.
Both Wonthella sides and Denison now stand between them and an unlikely finals spot.
Pennants action resumes this week.
