St Mary’s Primary School students had a chance to hear from Koomal Dreaming founder Josh Whiteland during an incursion aiming to teach them about Aboriginal culture and practices.

Some of the practices demonstrated to the students included traditional firefighting techniques, identifying wild fruits growing in the bush near the school, a bush walk and boomerang throwing.

Principal Ronan Kelly said the students thoroughly enjoyed the day.

“Josh from Koomal Dreaming is a wonderfully knowledgeable guide who took our students on a bush walk and taught them about the culture and practices of the local Aboriginal people,” he said.

Year 6 student Scarlett Gear said she enjoyed the incursion.
