While Mondayitis is a thing for many of us — and can last well into the week — it was quickly pushed aside by one lucky West Aussie after they scooped a cool $1 million Lotto jackpot.

The ticket in Monday night’s draw was bought online through Lotterywest and has left a huge smile on the face of the winner.

It is the second instant millionaire to be created in WA playing Monday Lotto in 2024 — and comes just days after a West Aussie collected $2.8 million after sharing Saturday’s $20 million Lotto jackpot with six others across the nation.

Monday’s draw also produced three division two winners in WA, each taking home $3900.

Lotterywest spokeswoman Emma Rogers said on Tuesday that it was exciting to have another division one winner in WA.

“We’re hoping good things come in threes and a WA player takes home a third division one prize this week,” she said.

In January, a retiree surprised his wife when he took her to the Lotterywest Winners Room in Subiaco to collect “a small prize”.

She had no idea they had won $1 million until they were sitting in the room.

“I’m in shock, I had no idea,” she said. The Slikpik 12 winning ticket was bought from Glengarry Lottery Centre & News in Duncraig and registered to a member account.

But when Lotterywest contacted the Duncraig retiree, aged in his 60s, he just laughed.

“I laughed and said, ‘Yeah, yeah’, not believing it,” the man said. “I logged on to my account and checked the ticket, then I laughed some more.”The retiree said that he planned on sharing the money with his family.

“I volunteer for an organisation that receives Lotterywest grants, so I know where the money goes, it does so much good in the community,” he said.
